Built to the Opening You Actually Have
Stock enclosures come in sizes. Bathrooms do not. The moment your shower turns a corner, sits at an angle, has a bench notched into one wall, or runs wider than the boxes at the home center go, you are in custom territory. That covers most of the interesting showers in Richmond and a good share of what we build across Macomb County. It covers the newer primary baths out toward the country roads, where a walk in with a fixed panel and a glass to glass corner is the plan from the start. It also covers the tricky older layouts closer to town, where a shower got carved out of a space that was never designed to hold one. We build to whatever the opening actually is, panel by panel. Every enclosure we make is cut for one bathroom and fits that room and no other.
A multi panel enclosure lives or dies on the measure. Once the tile is finished, we come out and take the opening in three dimensions: width at the bottom and at the top, plumb on every wall, level across the curb, and the real angles where panels will meet each other. Then that drawing goes to our own shop. Panels get cut, notched for hardware, drilled where hinges land, and polished on every exposed edge before the glass is tempered. Tempered glass cannot be trimmed afterward. Not a sixteenth of an inch. That is why we do not take numbers over the phone, and why your job never goes to an outside shop that never stood in your bathroom. The measure is the job. The install is the payoff, and our own crew does both.

Corner and Neo-Angle
Two panels meeting at a corner, or the five sided neo-angle that tucks a shower into the corner of a room, both come down to angles that are almost never exactly what the plan claims. We measure the real angle on site and fabricate to that, so the panels meet cleanly instead of close enough.
Walk In Panels
A single fixed panel with an open entry, sometimes with a short return to knock down the spray. No door to swing, nothing to pull, nothing to latch. It suits the larger baths in newer Richmond construction, and it depends completely on getting the panel height, the gap, and the head placement right.
Notched and Drilled
Benches, curbs, knee walls, half walls and niches all interrupt a straight run of glass. Each one becomes a notch or a cut made in our shop before tempering. It is fussier work than a rectangle, and it is the difference between glass that fits the room and glass that merely sits near it.
How a Multi Panel Enclosure Comes Together
The sequence matters. Tile and waterproofing go in first, handled by whoever is doing that work, because glass gets measured to finished surfaces and not to bare board. Then we measure. Then you choose your glass and your metal, and both get locked in before fabrication starts, since hinge holes and hardware cutouts are made to suit the specific hardware you picked. Your panels are built in house from there. When they are ready, our crew brings them to your Richmond home, sets the fixed panels first, squares everything to the room, hangs the door, and adjusts the hardware until it closes where it should and stays put where you leave it open. You get the same people at your house at the end of the job that you had at the beginning of it.
A bigger enclosure means more glass, and in Metro Detroit more glass means more surface for hard water to work on. That is worth thinking about before you pick. Low iron keeps a wide expanse from going green along the edges. Easy clean glass is available and it earns its place on a large enclosure faster than on a small one. Rain textured or satin frosted panels can be mixed in where privacy or spot hiding matters more than the view, on a return panel or a transom for example. And plan on a squeegee. Do you build custom shower enclosures for Richmond homes?

Should you measure before or after my tile is done?
After. Glass is measured to finished surfaces, because the tile thickness, the curb, and the way the corners actually landed all change the numbers. If your tile setter is not finished yet, we can talk through layouts and hardware in the meantime, then come out for the exact measure once the walls are done.
What is a neo-angle shower?
It is a corner enclosure with angled panels, usually five sided, with the door on the angle facing into the room. It fits a real shower into a corner without eating the whole floor. Those angles are rarely perfect in the field, so every neo-angle we build gets measured on site and fabricated to the geometry we find.
Can you work around a bench or a niche?
That is normal custom work. A bench, a knee wall, a half wall, or a curb that runs long all get accounted for in the panel layout, with notches cut in the shop before the glass is tempered. Bring photos to the showroom if you want to talk it through before we come out and measure.
How long does a custom enclosure take?
Your enclosure is fabricated in house after the measure and then scheduled for install. The timeline depends on the size of the enclosure, the glass and hardware you choose, and where we are on the calendar, so we walk you through it once we have exact dimensions and your selections in hand.
