What a Hinged Door Needs to Work
The one thing a hinged door asks for is room to swing. Most swing outward into the bathroom, which means the arc of the door has to clear whatever is in front of it. Six inches of open floor is not the same as sixteen. During the free measure we check that arc against your vanity, your entry door, and your walkway, and we tell you honestly if the opening would be better served by another style. We would rather point you to the right door than sell you the wrong one.
From there the choices are yours. A hinged door can stand alone in a smaller opening, or pair with a fixed panel to close off a wider one. Common questions.
Does a hinged shower door need to swing outward?
Most do, and that is the main thing to plan around. The door needs a clear arc into the bathroom so it does not hit the vanity, the toilet, or the entry door. Some configurations can swing both ways. We check the clearance in person at your free measure and tell you straight whether your opening suits a hinged door before anything gets ordered.
Do you come out to Birmingham from Sterling Heights?

Will a frameless hinged door leak?
A hinged door on a curbed shower is built to shed water back into the pan, and we set the glass and the seals so the spray stays inside. It is not a sealed box, so a little moisture at the threshold is normal on any glass door. The bigger factors are the pitch of your curb and where the shower head aims, and we look at both when we measure.
How does hard water affect the glass?
Metro Detroit water is hard, and every time it dries on glass it leaves mineral spots behind. That is true in Birmingham the same as anywhere in Oakland County.
