Walls Are Never Plumb, So We Measure Yours

There is no such thing as a square bathroom. Walls lean, floors slope a little, and tile went on with a hand rather than a machine. In Pontiac that shows up across the entire age range of the housing stock. A home from the craftsman era near downtown or over by the lakes has had a long time to settle, and the opening in it can be a half inch different top to bottom. A subdivision house on the edge of town is newer, but new framing moves too, and builder tile is not laid to a laser. Either way, a boxed enclosure off a shelf is built for a bathroom that does not exist. That is why the first thing we do is come to your house and take the numbers off the actual opening, standing in the room, with the shower right there in front of us.

Those numbers go straight to our shop. Your glass gets cut to them and tempered, and the hardware gets prepped in the finish you picked, all before anything comes to your door. On install day the crew that shows up works for the same family that measured and built it. They set the panels, shim and check for level, align the hinges or the top track so the door swings or rolls the way it should, and seal the joints where water would otherwise find a way past. Then they run the door with you and clean up after themselves. Tile, plumbing, and steam generator work stay with the trades that own them, so if your surround is sound the whole job stays inside the glass. That is the difference between an installation and a project.

What we build

Glass Shower Door Installation, measured and built for Pontiac.

01

Measured In Your Bathroom

We do not quote a shower off a photo or a phone call. Somebody comes to your Pontiac home, puts a level on the walls, and writes down what the opening really is. The visit is free, there is no obligation, and it is the only way the glass ends up fitting the first time.

02

Built To Those Numbers

The measurements go to our own shop, not to an outside glass house. Panels get cut, tempered, and prepped for the hardware you chose. 3/8 inch tempered is our standard heavy glass, and clear, low iron, frosted, and rain are all on the table when you decide how much you want to see through.

03

Set By Our Crew

The same family that measured and fabricated your enclosure installs it, so nobody is guessing at somebody else's notes. Panels get shimmed level, hardware gets aligned, and the seams that need sealing get sealed. Before we go, you open and close the door yourself and tell us it feels right.

How it goes

The Part Of The Job You Live With

An install done in a hurry announces itself every single day. A door hung a hair out of square will drift open on its own, or it will rub at one corner until you learn to lift it as you go. A track set on a floor that slopes holds a shallow puddle. A missed seal turns into a wet spot outside the shower, and if the room sits over a basement or a first floor you find out about that later, in a way nobody enjoys. Heavy glass is unforgiving that way, because 3/8 inch tempered has real weight to it and it will not bend to cover somebody's shortcut. Done right, it is the opposite. The door has a solid, quiet feel every time you touch it and you stop thinking about it at all.

Getting there is simple. Call or text, we set a time, and we come to your house in Pontiac for a free measure with no pressure to decide anything on the spot. Most jobs run a couple of weeks from measure to install. Your glass is cut to order and tempered before it ever leaves the shop. If you would rather see and touch the options first, the showroom is at 42624 Van Dyke Ave in Sterling Heights, about thirteen miles east of you, open Monday through Friday from 9 to 5 and Saturday from 10 to 2. Bring a photo of the bathroom. And ask about easy-clean glass while you are there, because the water in this area is hard enough that starting with the right surface saves you effort for years.

Good Questions

Common questions.

Why can I not just buy a door and have you hang it?

Because the fit is the whole job. A boxed enclosure is built to a round number and your opening is not a round number. Once glass is tempered it cannot be trimmed, so it either fits the room or it does not. We measure your walls first and then have the panels made to what we found, which is why the door lines up instead of leaving a gap you spend the next year caulking over.

What if my walls are out of plumb?

Most are, and that is normal in houses of any age. We measure the lean, then account for it in the fabrication and in the hardware so the glass sits true even though the wall does not. Frameless work leaves less room for error, so the measure matters more, not less. That is one of the reasons we do the measuring ourselves rather than asking you to send us numbers.

Do you handle the tile or plumbing around the shower?

No. Tile, plumbing, and steam generator work belong to other trades, and we stick to glass and hardware. In a normal install none of it comes up. If your surround is sound and the walls are in decent shape, everything we do happens inside the opening, and the rest of the bathroom gets left the way we found it.

How much of a mess does the install make?

Less than people expect. Your glass arrives finished, so there is no cutting or grinding happening in your bathroom. The crew works in the opening, sets the panels, seals what needs sealing, and cleans the space before leaving. Packing material and anything we removed goes out with us. Give the sealant the cure time we tell you and the shower is back in service.
